Standards for Excellence® Training
Standards for Excellence® is an ethics training program for nonprofits, foundations, and philanthropists in the Social Sector, built on a national program and customized with the Ethics Center's Framework for Ethical Decision-Making. This comprehensive, fee-based training consists of a two-day clinic and shorter sessions focused on single topics. Scholarships are available to attend our two-day Clinic Series.
Two-Day Clinic Series
The two-day Clinic Series is a deep dive into the Standards for Excellence Code®, and provides your organization with step-by-step guidelines to achieve a well-managed and responsibly governed organization. The Ethics Center has customized the Standards to incorporate ethics throughout six areas of nonprofit governance, operations, and management, including:
- Mission, Strategy, and Evaluation
- Leadership: Board, Staff, and Volunteers
- Legal Compliance and Ethics
- Finance and Operations
- Resource Development
- Public Awareness, Engagement, and Advocacy
Clinic Series Cost
General Public Rate--$2000 per agency
Partner in Learning Membership Rate--$1000 per agency
Two people from your organization may attend the training for the cost listed above. We strongly encourage that senior leadership (CEO, ED, Board Chair, Vice Chair, etc.) attend the training.

Individual Topic Sessions
In addition to the Clinic Series, we also offer individual training opportunities that focus on single topics related to the above areas. You do not need to attend the two-day Clinic Series in order to participate in the individual topic sessions. The per-person cost for these sessions are $50 per program hour for the general public and $30 per program hour for Partners in Learning members. Please see the individual event listings for information about specific topics and cost.
