Every alumni gift, to any area of campus, counts toward Santa Clara's participation rate. Alumni participation refers to the number of undergraduate alumni who make an annual gift of any size to their alma mater. So when it comes to participation, a $20 gift is weighed the same as a $20,000 gift. Last year, gifts of $100 or less added up to $963,651 - underscoring the fact that every gift makes a difference. Participation is one of the critical metrics used to determine national rankings of universities. It also helps leverage financial support from corporations and foundations. Gifts to the Santa Clara Fund impact the largest number of students as they support scholarships, academic programs, international study and immersion trips, and student initiatives. Thank you for your support.
A network of alumni who believe in the mission and future of Santa Clara University, they are an energetic and passionate group that spans all class years. They are leaders who provide critical support and commitment to one common mission: for the SCU community to be a powerful force of good in building a more humane, just, and sustainable world.

Why does Santa Clara need parent support?
Many parents are surprised to hear that tuition, though substantial, only covers 75% of the cost to educate a Santa Clara student. The University relies on income generated from its endowment and contributions from parents, alumni, and friends to make up the difference.
Last fiscal year, over 1,700 families donated a total of $8 million to the University. Participation by every parent is important and gifts of all levels are appreciated.
How have gifts to the Santa Clara Parents Fund made an impact?
The Santa Clara Parents Fund is the primary giving vehicle enabling parents to support their student's education at SCU. Gifts to The Santa Clara Parents Fund provide critical flexible funding which is invested in undergraduate programs and resources with the greatest need and potential to impact students:
- Academic programs
- Service learning, global engagement, and immersion experiences
- Student initiatives
Parent & Family Leadership Council
The Parent & Family Leadership Council is a philanthropic society of parents, grandparents, and other family members of Santa Clara students who serve as volunteers and ambassadors to the University.
The Council supports the University in three specific ways:
- Connecting and networking with Santa Clara families through hosting and attending events while helping identify parent volunteers and donors
- Engaging with University leadership on key issues that affect Santa Clara families and students
- Inspiring a culture of philanthropy among students and parents
- Invest in the University through an annual 5-figure leadership gift
- Attend at least one of two annual Council meetings during Welcome and Family Weekends
- Serve a renewable two-year term
Reunion giving supports current students in a number of different areas including the Santa Clara Fund, which provides assistance through scholarships; academic programs, such as research and hands-on learning opportunities; international study abroad and immersion trips; and student initiatives for on-campus organizations to develop new programs. Gifts to any fund or campus program count toward your class campaign.
If your class is celebrating a reunion this year, it is likely that you'll hear from a classmate about the class campaign. Many of your classmates will be making calls, encouraging others to come back to Santa Clara and to consider making a gift in honor of the reunion as well. We encourage you to participate in your class's reunion campaign with a gift to Santa Clara!
Your gift makes it possible for current students to have the same experiences you did as an undergraduate! If you have questions about your class progress or wish to join your class committee, please find further information here.
There are current and upcoming giving programs that need the help and support of faculty and staff in order to succeed. Your support of Santa Clara University helps further impact the students and programs that inspire your hard work. As we ignite the passion in our students to purse every aspect of a full Santa Clara education, we as faculty and staff can make a philanthropic investment in that future.
If you're a Santa Clara student chances are the Santa Clara Fund has contributed greatly to your experice and success. You can continue this success and help secure an even brighter future for SCU.
