John Gallarate
Recipient of the 2021-22 Fr. Richard Coz Scholarship

For Senior John Gallarate, the Mission Church was his first true introduction to Santa Clara. “When I was in high school, my family and I would frequently go to Sunday Mass at the Mission, put on by the students,” he recalls. “My mom really enjoyed those masses, and that’s when I got to see more of the campus.”

Fast forward to the present, and John is finishing his final year at Santa Clara, majoring in Psychology with minors in Spanish and Ethnic Studies. He’s looking forward to launching a career in User Experience, which seeks to improve products’ usability. “I feel that, with the education I’ve received, that I’ve gained the skills and experiences to make this happen.”

Reflecting on his final year of study, John is grateful for the support he received from the Father Coz Scholarship, which has “significantly eased my family’s financial burden.” After graduation, John hopes to support students like him. “I hope to pay this forward by being a contributor to scholarships like this one so every student can have the support they need to really make the most of this experience.”
