Delegation and Visitor Resources

Planning Your Visit

Visit requests with a specific scholarly interest should be arranged within the relevant SCU department or School/College.  Visits should be requested at least four weeks in advance of proposed visit by using the SCU International Visitor Request form.

Delegation Visits
The Global Engagement Office accommodates delegation visits when:
  • Visitors have requested to meet with senior administrators, including the President, Provost or Associate Provosts
  • Meetings requested involve multiple units on campus and topics of interest extend beyond one academic department or area.
Normally, it is most productive to visit during the academic year when faculty, administrators and students are on campus.  Summer visits are possible, but many faculty, staff and students are away from campus and not all visit requests may be able to be accommodated.  Visits may not be scheduled during University holidays when the University is closed.  SCU's academic calendar is arranged in three 10-week academic terms.   Note that SCU's Law School and Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley are on semester calendars.  The terms run from mid-September through mid-December; early-January through mid-March; late-March through mid-June.   Undergraduate Academic Calendar https://www.scu.edu/registrar/ugrd-academic-calendar/.

Getting around campus
Santa Clara University is located 2.7 miles from Downtown San Jose, near the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay, in the area referred to locally as the "South Bay".  SCU is easily accessible by three international airports and public transit.

SCU's campus is small and walkable.  It is possible to walk from one far corner of campus to the other in about fifteen minutes.  We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that will facilitate walking.  If visitors require mobility support please let campus hosts know about this and they will be happy to make arrangements to accommodate this.   SCU does not provide assistance with hotel or transportation arrangements to campus.

Translation needs
Groups in need of translation should make independent arrangements for translation services.  If meetings will include a translator please inform Global Engagement in advance to that the schedule can be created to allow for additional time that translation requires.  SCU is unable to provide translation services.

Tour groups and study tours
Global Engagement does not organize visits to campus initiated by third-parties such as tour companies or consulting firms who will benefit monetarily for arranging a tour for international academic visitors to SCU.  Global Engagement does not organize "study tours" for large groups.
