What should I know about my SCU Undergraduate Degree?
SCU grants students a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Normal time for an undergraduate degree is four years. Degree-seeking students take courses required for a major course of study and all Core education requirements and have a minimum of units.
Here is a typical structure:
1 class = 3 contact hours per week = 4 or 5 units
1 quarter = 15-16 units
1 year = 3 quarters = 45-48 units
4 years = 180-192 units
Undergraduate international students are required by the University and US Federal Law to enroll in a minimum of 12 units each term. See “Maintaining Status” link here
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin with questions: Do not rely on information from other students to understand University policy.
US immigration regulations are complex and change frequently. The University strives to maintain a website that is both current and helpful, however, Santa Clara University is not responsible for students maintaining lawful immigration status; this is the responsibility of the student. Further, resources and links do not constitute endorsement by Santa Clara University.
"Getting an education is something that comes naturally here, so it’s not something that I have to focus on. Obviously, I will do my homework, take the tests, and so on, but I think it is important to get the full experience – being in a different country and all that."
"I’m hoping to get involved in the Dance department a little bit more along with bioengineering. I started taking Ballet 2 this quarter. I’ve danced my whole life and I was missing it, and I did the informal performance yesterday, so hopefully I can get more in their performances next quarter – audition for that."
"I want to be surrounded by people who are equally enthusiastic about developing themselves."
