Living our Mission - Differently

St. Ignatius frequently urged the first Jesuits to pay attention to peoples, times, places and to be flexible and courageous in their work. Our extraordinary times are calling forth daily acts of courage and flexibility, large and small, as we continuously adapt to unforeseeable changes. The mission of Jesuit education globally, at SCU, and here at the Ignatian Center remains the same, but we are now called to express our practical commitment to that mission differently. With the same courage, we must venture into uncharted kinds of activity and explore new entrepreneurial approaches.

“Grace under fire” is a phrase that has come to my mind a lot recently as I have witnessed so many examples of generosity among my colleagues and peers that reaffirm the value of community. During this time of campus in exile, continuing community is both a challenge and a gift as together we learn how to live out our mission. With commitment, adaptability, and courageous innovation for the sake of our mission in Jesuit education, the Ignatian Center continues to do our work “here, there, and everywhere.”
