Partnering for Greater Impact

Discernment, collaboration, and networking are some of the hallmarks of Jesuit education today. The Ignatian Center looks to our network of partners—here at SCU and among our extended communities—for opportunities to live out the Ignatian tradition of discernment and collaboration with greater impact.

Recently, the Ignatian Center worked closely with SCU’s Center for Sustainability to ensure our office move was environmentally conscious, resulting in a lively video that will serve as a resource for other on-campus moves. Our Sustainability connection will deepen this winter as we revitalize the Bronco Urban Garden at Gardner Elementary School - stay tuned for more details!

Last month, eight SCU faculty and staff members ventured on a 5-day immersion to the Kino Border Initiative in Nogales, bringing back to campus a wave of energy for greater awareness and action for humane, just, and workable migration efforts.

The Center’s newest project, Tech and the Human Spirit, invites the global community of technology makers and users to network, collaborate, and discern how technological innovation can better support integral human flourishing.

Through these partnerships, the Ignatian Center continues to fuel the flame of Jesuit education – here, there, and everywhere.

Reduce, Reuse, Relocate

Last Spring, the Ignatian Center moved from its home of 18 years in Sobrato Hall to a new location at 990 Benton Street. We asked the Center for Sustainability for advice on recycling unwanted items as well as establishing a new, sustainably friendly work space. They were happy to oblige and made a fun resource video in the process!

Kino Border Initiative
This past summer, the Ignatian Center sent 8 SCU faculty and staff members to Nogales, Arizona and Sonora, Mexico in collaboration with our new partners, Kino Border Initiative. This organization helps make humane and just migration between the U.S. and Mexico a reality, promoting border policies that affirm human dignity and bi-national solidarity.

Tech & the Human Spirit

Tech & the Human Spirit

Technology has changed us, and it will continue to shape our lives, our organizations, our communities, and our future. How can we steward technology’s advance to benefit humanity to the fullest, contributing to human flourishing in all its dimensions? SCU and the Ignatian Center's Bannan Forum are pursuing answers.
