Community-engaged teaching: Deepen a comprehensive model of community-engaged teaching throughout SCU in conjunction with community partners in Greater Washington by expanding community placement options in the neighborhood and tailoring them to support the realization of community goals while fostering critical thinking through the Experiential Learning for Social Justice Core requirement.

 

Community-engaged scholarship: Develop a vital program of community-engaged scholarship that is grounded in mutuality, dignity and respect for the contributions of community members as co-authors in the context of “right relationship” by supporting faculty/student research and program development partnerships with neighborhood-based organizations that bring about a more just, humane and sustainable world.

 

Projects that promote solidarity: Engage in partnership-focused projects that promote solidarity between university and community stakeholders including; university students, faculty, staff, alumnae, donors, departments and programs, as well as community residents, leaders, and organizers in support of education and prosperity-centered initiatives that apply knowledge for the betterment of society.
