Compassion Camp

Summer camp experience for elementary students focusing on self-regulation and emotional support and facilitated by SCU students and faculty from the Future Teachers Program.

TNI has joined forces with the Dr. Brett Solomon, Professor of Liberal Studies and Director of the SCU Future Teachers Project (FTP) to offer a week-long Summer Compassion Camp experience for children from the Greater Washington community. The summer experience, hosted on the SCU campus, includes games, lessons and collaborative experiences designed to increase children's empathy for themselves and others while encouraging self-esteem, self-efficacy and leadership.

The Future Teachers Project is an SCU initiative established in 1995 in an effort to provide college-preparatory programming and support to students who want to become teachers in urban and under-served communities. Today, FTP serves over eighty students at the university and high school levels throughout Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.
