Christopher Wemp '12, M.A. '15

He studied in El Salvador as an undergraduate through Santa Clara University's Casa de la solidaridad program, and was so moved by the communities with whom he encountered that he focused his undergraduate thesis on Latin American liberation theology music by collaborating with composers and musicians in both El Salvador and Peru, and eventually India and Kenya. Through his work in SCU’s Innovations in Catholic Education initiative and directing music at St. Clare Parish, Christopher is able to make meaningful connections between the call for justice that liturgical music often urges, and the concrete steps one can take to make an impact on the surrounding community through a variety of innovative ideas intended to serve others.
