The LEAD Scholars Program is expanding to include a peer mentor program. We feel that there is a certain level of community that is built during LEAD week that we hope would continue throughout the academic year. Peer mentors help foster and maintain a strong LEAD community with LEAD Week mentees.

Peer Mentoring

During LEAD Week, the Peer Mentors lead daily peer mentoring group meetings. They assist with all other activities during the week, and coordinate afternoon team building activities.

During the academic year, peer mentors meet with each mentee on an individual basis once a quarter. They also organize one event for their entire mentee team to participate in each quarter. Whether that is attending a SCU event together, or heading to a movie, the option is up to each mentoring group.

The Peer Mentor program is designed for our older student leaders to discuss with our first year students how they are adjusting to life at SCU and the broader area. Are they getting involved on campus? Finding the academic support they need? Getting along with their roommate? Needing to talk to an older LEAD student in their major? Peer Mentors are there to generally support their peers through any questions, comments or concerns they may have about their overall experience on campus, in the classroom or in the broader community.
