Student Leadership Application Process
The Student Leadership application is an online application process for several leadership positions on campus including Community Facilitators (CFs), Neighborhood Representatives (NRs), and Orientation Leaders (OLs). Students complete one general student leadership application that allows them to apply for multiple positions at one time.
The application for the CF/NR and OL selection processes will be available beginning on Monday, November 25, 2019 and is due on Monday, January 13, 2020 by 9:00AM.

Community Facilitators (CFs) are peer leaders who serve as student members of teams in Residential Learning Communities (RLC). The CF position has been designed to support the University Strategic Plan and the Jesuit philosophy for integrated education. CFs contribute to the development of a community of scholars by assisting the academic and personal development of residents and by promoting and supporting an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, CFs are expected to know and uphold University policies, procedures, and community standards, work collaboratively to build community, be available to mentor students, and encourage responsible citizenship on and off the SCU campus.

Neighborhood Representatives (NRs) are peer leaders who serve as student members of teams in Junior and Senior residential communities (University Villas and Nobili Hall). NRs contribute to the development of a community of scholars by assisting the academic and personal development of residents and by promoting and supporting an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, NRs are expected to know and uphold University policies, procedures, and community standards, work collaboratively to build community, and encourage responsible citizenship on and off the SCU campus.

Orientation Leaders (OLs) work with a broad range of students, staff, and faculty on projects and programs related to freshmen and transfer student Orientation and Welcome Weekend to create a cohesive experience for new students and their families. Orientation Leaders act as an ambassador for Santa Clara University by actively promoting and supporting the mission and values at all times; Serve as a guide, mentor, and role model to new students; Welcome and communicate community expectations and values to new students and their families; Assist with all programs associated with Summer Orientation, Transfer Orientation, and Welcome Weekend; Serve as a Community Facilitator during Summer Orientation sessions.

Residence Life Selection Process
Applicants for positions as Community Facilitators or Neighborhood Representatives will go through the Residence Life selection process, which includes 3 main parts: the application, group process interviews, and individual community interviews.
Please refer to the sections below for more information about each area.
For more information about the process, we highly recommend attending one of Residence Life's optional information sessions, which will discuss the position responsibilities, selection criteria, and the interview process. Winter quarter information session dates, times, and locations will be advertised in January.

Key dates in the 2020-2021 Residence Life selection process include:
- Monday, November 25: Application Opens

- February 6 through 9: Individual Interviews Take Place
- Thursday, February 20: Final Notifications Sent By Email
- Thursday, February 27: Candidate Acceptance materials due to the Housing Office by 9:00AM
The application is the first step in the process of becoming a student staff member, and includes biographic information and questions about past work, leadership, and volunteer experience.
Applications will be scored by Professional Staff, and we reccomend that you submit applications that contain thoughtful reflection and detailed descriptions of experiences.
The application will be available on this website on Monday, November 25, 2019.
The second step in the Residence Life selection process is the mandatory Group Process interview, which will take place Saturday, January 25. All candidates should mark their calendar for that date. After submitting your application, you will receive more information inlcuding the location and specific time you should arrive.
Activities will provide opportunities for you to share the unique talents, skills, and abilities that you might bring to the student staff role. We encourage you to be your authentic self.
Dress code for group process is business casual. Wear something that is comfortable and makes you feel your best. Activities may include movement and group work, so please plan accordingly.
After submitting an application, candidates will be asked to preference up to three communities where they would most like to be considered.
After completing the Preference Form, each candidate may be offered interviews with community Leadership Teams. Individual interviews will take place from February 6-9 and candidates may be offered interviews at any point during that window. Candidates are not guaranteed individual interviews after Group Process.
Be sure to check your SCU email frequently during this time, as it is the primary method through which you will be contacted to schedule interviews.
Final notification letters will be sent, via SCU email, on Thursday, February 20, 2020.
