Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
The Bay Area county public health officers have announced an indoor mask mandate effective August 3 to help mitigate the spread of the Delta variant of the Coronavirus. This mandate requires all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear approved face coverings in indoor spaces. At SCU, this includes the following types of spaces, among others:
- Office environments
- Open office cubicles
- Private offices when doors are open
- Meeting and break rooms
- Classrooms, teaching and research labs
- Lobbies, lounges, and corridors
- Residence halls
- Indoor exercise and recreation areas
- Libraries
- All other indoor work and recreation areas
Removing face coverings while actively eating or drinking is acceptable.
Note: An approved face covering means one that is well-fitted to an individual and covers the nose and mouth especially while talking. A face covering does not include a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, or single layer of fabric or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve.
Building signage reflecting the new county health order will be updated shortly; however, all personnel are expected to comply immediately with this new mandate.
Anyone experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms must refrain from coming to campus until their symptoms have subsided. If you are experiencing such symptoms, get tested as soon as possible. For more information about on-campus testing, visit our COVID-19 testing protocol webpage.
On July 30, SCU announced a mandatory vaccine policy that will become effective September 15. Please read the following communication that describes how to comply with this new policy. Those working on campus this summer who are not vaccinated are required to be tested weekly at SCU's COVID testing center. Here are details about our testing center.
We are working on fall 2021 protocols and will share those once finalized.
We thank you for continuing to follow safety guidelines. For additional resources and links to vaccination providers, please visit myturn.ca.gov.
Sincerely,
COVID-19 Operations Team
