Jesuit Heritage Week
Faith that Does Justice October 26 - November 1, 2025
Dear Santa Clara Community,
Join us in celebrating our Jesuit Heritage—a time to reflect on the many ways we live out our Jesuit mission and values, the Catholic intellectual tradition, and our ongoing commitment to building a more just, humane, and sustainable world for all.
This celebration is grounded in nearly 500 years of Jesuit tradition and the global mission of the Society of Jesus: “faith, justice, and reconciliation.” At Santa Clara University, this mission comes to life through critical thinking, spiritual life and accompaniment, academic research, technological innovation, community partnerships, and the celebration of diversity.
Guided by this year’s theme, Faith that Does Justice, we are reminded that our mission is not an abstract idea. Pedro Arrupe, S.J., former Superior General of the Society of Jesus, called us to take clear actions, "We must sow justice in our world." This call is embodied in our vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff, all committed to the common good, the magis, and the care of the whole person.
Mission and Ministry invites the entire campus community to a week of prayer, reflection, dialogue, and celebration—to honor our past and discern together the future we are called to shape as people for and with others.
Join us the week of October 26 - November 1 for this annual tradition as we embrace our values and celebrate our collective mission-driven work.

Wishing you all good things,
Matthew Carnes, S.J. Vice President, Mission & Ministry
