Spanish Studies Program Requirements
MAJOR– minimum of 40 Upper Division Units
As part of the 40 units, the following courses must be included:
- Spanish 100 or dept. approved substitution
- Spanish 101 or dept. approved substitution
- Spanish 175
- Survey Course chosen from SPAN 120, 121, 130 or 131
- One course in Latin American Literature or Culture
- One course in Spanish Peninsular Literature or Culture
- Remaining units taken in upper division electives taught in Spanish
- 20 Units taken at SCU or taught by SCU Faculty
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.0 in major
MINOR– minimum of 19 Upper Division Units
As part of the 19 units, the following courses must be included:
- Spanish 100 or dept. approved substitution
- Spanish 101 or dept. approved substitution
- One course in Hispanic Literature or Culture
- Remaining units taken in upper division electives taught in Spanish
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.0 in minor
- 10 units taken at SCU or taught by SCU faculty
A junior year of study in a country where Spanish is spoken is recommended, but not required.
