Biographical Information

Stephanie Daffer began teaching Spanish at Santa Clara University in January 2003 after a long and rewarding career in International Business.  In addition to SCU, she has also taught at the University of San Francisco, City College of San Francisco and Skyline Community College.

Ms. Daffer’s teaching career began at the University of Texas at El Paso where she co-authored an adult education course in Beginning Conversational Spanish, while concurrently teaching Elementary Spanish and working towards an MA in Spanish Literature.  After earning her degree, she moved to the Bay Area and began a long career in Information Technology and Financial Services.  Throughout her career in business, during which she managed projects and lived in various Latin American countries, Stephanie always hoped to return to teaching.  She is delighted to be in the classroom once again!

Stephanie is a seasoned executive with an outstanding background in global strategic planning and marketing, product and brand development, general line management, and Board level strategic consulting.  Much of this experience was gained at Visa International, a firm she served for nearly fourteen years in various capacities including: Senior Vice President-Corporate Planning, Vice President-Product Development, Director-Operations Support and Director-Applications Development.  During her career at Visa International Stephanie worked closely with the Latin American Region, frequently presenting to senior banking officials in Spanish.

Prior to joining Visa, Ms. Daffer worked for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as a Member of the Advisory Staff, serving as a consultant on multiple projects throughout Latin America, principally in Mexico City, Mexico and Caracas, Venezuela, and as a Systems and Programming Manager in Sacramento, California.  She began her professional career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where she served as a Systems Engineer in San Francisco, California and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Ms. Daffer holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, an MA in Spanish from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a BA in Spanish with a minor in Economics from the University of New Mexico.
