Kate Morris

In her position as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Kate oversees the development of programs and services to support the academic mission of the University. She provides support and strategic guidance in the areas of Faculty Personnel and Policy, Research, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty Development, and Teaching Innovation. Kate supervises the Global Engagement Office, the University Library, and the de Saisset Museum. She works closely with Deans, the Title IX Officer and General Counsel on Ethics Point and Title IX issues involving faculty members.

Prior to her appointment as Vice Provost, Kate served as an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, where she worked with ten academic departments and on strategic initiatives that support diversity, including the College’s Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Program. She is a former Chair of the University’s Faculty Affairs Committee, and served two terms as President of the Native American Art Studies Association. 

Morris earned her Ph.D. in Indigenous Art History from Columbia University. She is the author of Shifting Grounds: Landscape in Contemporary Native Art (2019).
