Dear Colleagues,
Just a quick reminder during this busy week with important new information ...
As announced by Fr. O’Brien during convocation, Santa Clara is expanding our partnership with Landed so all qualified and interested SCU faculty and staff can receive down payment support for a home purchase. This program replaces the Landed pilot program announced in May of 2018 for eligible faculty.
An important expansion: Landed recently adjusted its policy so that employees simply need to have worked in education for at least two years prior to joining SCU in order to qualify. In other words, if you came to SCU and have at least two years of experience in education at any level or are recruiting a faculty, staff member, or administrator who has at least two years of experience in education at any level, you or your recruit would qualify for Landed from day one at SCU.
Landed’s down payment program provides half of the down payment on a home, up to $120,000 per household, in exchange for a share in the gain (or loss, if any) of the value of the home once it is sold or refinanced. There are no income or asset restrictions to participating and the program is not restricted to first time homebuyers. Please note: The mortgage subsidy program for tenure-track faculty will continue, as well.
We have had an overwhelming response so far for the informational sessions scheduled for next week on October 14 and 15, 2019. All employees interested in purchasing a home or learning more about the home buying process are encouraged to attend.

Please know that in addition to the new Landed program, deliberate work continues to identify other solutions as well, including adding more university sponsored housing units and refining the rental assistance program so more of our valued colleagues can benefit. This is a priority for Fr. O’Brien, a priority we and so many others share.
Best Regards,
