Students in the Learning Commons

Benson Memorial Center

Benson Memorial Center houses a number of campus services, including the bookstore, U.S. Post Office, Information Desk, and credit union ATM.

Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center

The Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center provides recreational opportunities for all levels and interests. The 45,000 square foot facility includes a weight room with state-of-the-art "selectorized" weight machines for toning and strength exercises and extensive free weight area with top-of-the-line strength building equipment. The gymnasium has three courts for basketball, volleyball, or badminton.  A valid ACCESS card or Malley Center Membership Card is required to access the facility.

The pool in the Sullivan Aquatic Center is 52 m by 23 m (a little larger than an Olympic-sized pool due to the potential future purchase of a bulkhead). Pool hours are available on the Aquatic Center Hours and Events calendar.

The Learning Commons

The Harrington Learning Commons, Sobrato Technology Center, and Orradre Library is a 194,000 sq. ft. building on four levels with more than 1100 reader seats of a variety of types, including carrels, small tables, lounge furniture, cafe, and outdoor terraces. The facility has more than 200 desktop computers; 2 video editing suites; a multi-media lab; wide availability of wired network connections and power; access to a secure wireless network; and more than 25 six or eight-person collaborative workrooms or other group study spaces that can be reserved via the web. The first floor has a large “Start Here” Desk, which is staffed by both the Library and IT.

Library services are available to Summer students online or in the Harrington Learning Commons, Sobrato Technology Center and Orradre Library. The ACCESS Card serves as a student’s library card. Services include borrowing privileges; remote access to licensed electronic resources; reference assistance; LINK+ and other document delivery; facilities for both individual and group study; and reasonably-priced photocopying and printing services. The University Library Website provides more detailed information about hours and how to use the Library’s services. It also offers links to the online system (OSCAR); many other electronic resources, including LibGuides for courses; and “Ask a Librarian” reference assistance.
