Seed Balls (October)

As the weather is changing, we see our basil bloom, sunflowers fade and think of seed saving. Seedballs are fun way to encourage your child’s participation in gardening.  This classic nature craft engages all the senses- maybe even inspiring your creativity.  Make a batch for friends and spread some joy around town!

Materials List:

  • Air dry clay
  • Soil
  • Seeds
  • Water

Instructions:

  • Add a little bit of water to the clay and spread it out on a flat surface
  • Put soil and seeds in the middle (5 parts clay 1 part soil 1 part seeds)
  • Fold and knead the clay until is has an even consistency
  • Roll the clay into balls that are about an inch in diameter and allow them to dry
  • Toss the completed balls into a vacant area and wait for flowers to grow!
