Personal Compost Pails

Alert icon Fall Quarter 2020 Due to fall quarter classes being held online and not in-person, we will not be offering this regular event/program to the campus at this time. Please check in with Housing if you are living in University Villas. We have other virtual opportunities for you to stay involved with us! Please check out our Fall 2020 page under the Take Action section.

Personal compost pails make composting even easier! The Center for Sustainability and the Housing Office have paired up to provide students with small compost pails they can use in their rooms on campus.

Each year, we provide 100 personal compost pails that can be rented out during Fall Quarter. Students can keep the pail all year long free of charge as long as they return them in the Spring. Participants are asked to complete a brief survey before and after using the pail to document their experience, allowing us to keep the program growing.

Interested in renting your own compost pail? Email us at for more information or stop by the Center for Sustainability in Varsi Hall!
