For the first time ever, SCU hosted its very own Energizer Station for Bike to Work Day on May 12th. We also hosted our first Bike to Work Month challenge for faculty and staff. Bike to Work Day is a national event, coordinated locally by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC), that is designed to encourage first-time riders and celebrate regular bike commuters. SVBC offers resources to make bike commuting as easy as possible including Virtual Bike Route Scouts that will help you find a bike-friendly route wherever you want to go. This was the biggest year yet for Bay Area Bike to Work Day with over 130 Energizer Stations in the Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties--SCU’s station had over 200 participants! Whether you participated in Bike to Work Month/Day or not, keep riding this summer for the fresh air and exercise and to promote sustainable transportation to help SCU achieve our Climate Neutrality goals.
