Summer Archaeology Program
Mondays, June 23 to August 17 from 10 am to 2 pm

Calling all archaeology enthusiasts! Come join Santa Clara University in partnership with CA State Parks in gaining hands-on experience in handling and identifying a variety of artifact types. Volunteers are needed to sort and process artifacts from the recent extensive 2-year archaeological excavation at the Mission Santa Clara, conducted by Santa Clara University. Volunteers will receive formal lab training and will gain a clear understanding of California Mission life, based upon this latest research. Lab work will occur at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park. Special lectures and field trip opportunities will be available. The program will consist of two 4 week sessions, plus one field trip. A $25.00 materials fee covers one or both sessions. To ask questions or to register, contact Julie Sidel with the Mission Santa Cruz State Historic Park (831) 425-5849, or Linda Hylkema with Santa Clara University 408-554-4513; lhylkema@scu.edu.
