Dear Students,
As Week 9 comes to a close, we were saddened by the loss of ten lives at the VTA yards in San Jose, only a few miles from our campus. Please know that there are campus resources (such as Campus Ministry, Office of Student Life or CAPs) for those who feel the need to contact someone
On campus, the COVID test positivity rate remains low, with no positive case within the past month. As announced last week, Santa Clara County recently moved to the less-restrictive Yellow Tier.
Continued COVID Safety Measures
We are awaiting final state guidance, expected in June, which will guide our summer and fall COVID-19 safety protocols. For the present period through June 15, masks are still required indoors, even for those who are vaccinated. If you are taking in-person classes, studying in the library or Benson, or entering other buildings, you are required to wear a mask indoors. Masks are not required outdoors, with the exception of large gatherings such as the upcoming in-person celebration for the Class of 2021. Weekly testing continues to be a requirement for those coming to campus who are not vaccinated.
Vaccine Clinic on Campus June 2
Santa Clara County will host a free, on-campus vaccination clinic on Wed, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Williman Room and patio in the Benson Memorial Center. Johnson & Johnson (single dose) and Pfizer (two dose) vaccines will be available; if you select Pfizer, the second dose will be offered on June 23. (If you’re leaving the area after the first dose, you can receive your second dose in most other places in the U.S.) You can register for a vaccination appointment here; walk-ups without appointments are also accepted as vaccine supplies permit.
- Please note: Per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and other health authorities, those who had COVID-19 and recovered are still advised to get a COVID-19 vaccine—and such vaccinations will be a requirement of attending Santa Clara University in the fall. Please make arrangements to get vaccinated even if you previously had COVID-19.

I hope as you wrap up your courses and finals for spring term, you are beginning to see many signs of hope and optimism. We cannot thank you enough for taking to heart the call to protect one another with COVID-19 safety precautions. While this pandemic is not yet behind us, we are delighted that our test positivity rates are low and the number of fully vaccinated students, faculty, and staff is on the rise. Keep it up, Broncos.
