Overview

This application makes files available for download — or for inclusion in a web page — only to authenticated SCU users. Access can be narrowed further to specific groups.

Folders

Permissions are set on a folder, not on individual files, so a set of files that share the same restrictions can be uploaded once and governed together. Create one with Add a Folder.

  • Folder name — for your reference only. Nobody downloading a file ever sees it.
  • ANY vs. ALL — whether a user must satisfy one of the criteria below or every one of them. Leave all criteria empty to allow any authenticated SCU user.
  • IP range — an IP/CIDR block such as 129.210.0.0/16; a bare address is treated as a /32. On an ANY folder, a visitor coming from a matching address is not asked to sign in at all, which is how kiosk and on-campus access works.
  • Affiliation — faculty, staff, student, and the other values the identity provider publishes.
  • Entitlement — an Active Directory group, e.g. www:admin. The urn:mace:scu.edu:entitlement: prefix is optional.
  • Division — currently only LAWSCL, for law students.
  • Organization — from the SCU organizations list.
  • Other administrators — colleagues who may add, replace, or delete files in this folder. An entitlement name works here too and grants the folder to everyone holding it.

Uploading files

After saving a folder you land on its file list. Use Add Files to pick one or more files, then Start Uploading. Large files are sent in pieces and only appear in the list once every piece has arrived, so an interrupted upload never leaves a half-file behind.

Each file in the list has a download link. That is the URL to hand to your audience — Copy Link puts it on the clipboard. Return to this page at any time to add more files or delete existing ones.

History

Every download attempt is recorded, successful or refused. History on a folder shows all of its files; History on a file shows just that one. Both take a date range and default to the last 30 days.
