Hello,
Welcome to SCU!
As an incoming student pursuing a major that requires Calculus, you will need to complete the Calculus Readiness Exam (CRE) by June 15, 2026. This short online assessment helps make sure you’re placed in the math course that’s the best fit for you. For everything you need to know - including how to get started - check out the CRE website.
Action Item:
- Please complete the CRE by June 15, 2026
- The exam can only be taken once, so please plan ahead. Set aside about 45 minutes to complete it, and make sure you have a strong, reliable internet connection and a quiet space free from distractions.
To take the test, please follow the instructions provided here.
What to Expect:
- The CRE is unproctored and designed to assess your current math skills
- The ALEKS platform uses AI tools to monitor for potential cheating behavior, so please complete the exam honestly and independently.
- Your results will determine the math course that is the best starting point for you.
If you took AP or IB math tests and have your score, please use this link to determine whether you need to take the CRE. Your results will help determine which math course is the best fit for your fall quarter schedule. If you recently took the AP or IB exam and have not yet received your score, we recommend completing the CRE so you are not prevented from registering for a math course during Orientation.
Once your AP or IB scores are released, you can work with advisors during Orientation to enroll in the course that best aligns with your results.
Completing the CRE early will help ensure a smooth registration process and access to the right course.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us by email at credirectors@scu.edu
Best regards,
