Dear Campus Community,
As you know, international students are a vital and important part of our SCU community. SCU is proud of our large international student population that contributes to our global reach and our multifaceted community. Recent news sources have described federal government actions both canceling legal status (terminating SEVIS status) and revoking F-1 and J-1 visas. This message is to inform our community that SCU has had a small number of SCU students impacted by these actions. Our International Students and Scholars team is helping the impacted students access resources and understand their options based on their individual situation. Our process is thorough, and appropriate faculty and staff are informed as needed. To protect the privacy of impacted students we are limited in the details that we can provide. Additional information on U.S. Government Impacts to Global Engagement at SCU can be found on our website.
International students are invited to join a coffee hour this Friday, 12:00 p.m.- 1:30 p.m. in Global Engagement, Aloysius Varsi Hall.
In addition, we encourage people to attend the SCU Associated Student Government (ASG) panel on federal government actions impacting International & Undocumented Communities on Wednesday, April 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Daly 207, including Melissa Heid, Director of International Students and Scholars, Ipsita Bhattacharya, Graduate Business student and international student, and Vivien Leung, Political Science faculty.
