Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today, January 15, 2026, Santa Clara University joins in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968) on what would have been his 97th birthday. This upcoming Monday, January 19, 2026 is MLK Day and it is also the 40th anniversary of its establishment.
Even though it has been nearly 58 years since his assassination, his message continues to inspire and resonate today. We encourage members of the our community to reflect on his words from the “I Have a Dream” Speech, "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" and his final speech “I Have Been to the Mountaintop” In 1968.
A series of events have been sponsored and coordinated by various SCU departments, student organizations and local groups. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities throughout the upcoming week and beyond.
