God of Mystery, God of truth, Hidden before us, revealed behind our eyes— We seek your light; we treasure your Word; We search for your presence. We open our hearts to your eternal life within us, Your risen Christ among us, Your Living Word upon us. Speak, for we are listening. Amen.
Dear JST Students and Community,
It has been a year full of blessings, challenges and new hope. As we enter summer and celebrate the completion of yet another academic year, our Student and Community Life Office offers its gratitude to you.
Together we have created a schoolwide community of support and engagement. We welcomed new students, we said goodbye to our dear colleagues Joe and Rich, and we now prepare to send forth our graduates into the world where Christ's presence and light will be renewed by their leadership.
May each of you have a renewing holiday.
May your hearts be open, your spirits enlivened.
Thank you for a fantastic year and have a safe and blessed summer!
We look forward to the time when Magis will return in the fall!

Summer Spiritual Enrichment Opportunities
If you anticipate spending significant periods in Berekely over the summer, consider the following ways you can enrich your spiritual life during this time:
- Establish a Spiritual Direction relationship.
- Come by the chapel for personal prayer.
- Make a directed retreat in daily life or set aside time for a retreat at the Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos.
- Explore what opportunities are available for spiritual fellowship, and contemplative ventures into the natural world, and service will be sponsored by the JST.
Reach out to Stephen (sszolosi@scu.edu) to schedule a meeting time to learn more. |
Liturgies | Gesù Chapel
Following Commencement, liturgies will continue through to Friday, May 26, 2023.
Mark your calendars
On Wednesday, August 2nd, at noon, JST and the Jesuit Community will celebrate the Feast of Peter Faber with mass in Gesù.
Our evening liturgy schedule will resume in Gesù on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
A Note of Thanks
With the conclusion of this academic year, I share a note of gratitude to the many contributors to our liturgies this past year. Priscilla Bawa and Alexandra Bishop served the community as Sacristans and on the Liturgy Committee. Others giving their time to the Liturgy Committee’s meetings included Marty Connell, Ryen Dwyer, John Kellett, Selah Long, Laura Miera, Eddie Odhiambo, Aric Serrano, and Mike Tedone. Our accompanists through the year, include C-Y Kao, John Kellett, Paul Kircher, Aaron Pierre, as well as David and Heidi Kelly-Tuason. Our several cantors have similarly enriched the liturgies, and so Christopher Alt, Sean Berry, Joanna Elvis, Jack McLinden, Paul K., and others in the choir are all due gratitude! Laryn Kovalik served us as the bread baker with attention to preparing hosts with care each week. And a final thank you to our many presiders, preachers, and liturgical ministers who have served as lectors, acolytes, and Eucharistic ministers. You are too many to name individually, but your ministry and availability are also greatly appreciated. We hope those returning will contribute again in the fall!
Summer Opportunities
Georgetown University | Faith + Justice Summer Academy
"One of our objectives here at the Center is to do our part in helping to form and shape the next generation of church leaders. Our Faith + Justice Summer Academy (June 26-30) is a weeklong certificate program here on Georgetown's campus, designed exclusively for current seminary and divinity school students to equip participants with a theo-ethical vision for substantive engagement in civic and public life. We'll have classroom sessions and immersive experiences in D.C. — including congressional meetings on Capitol Hill and a meeting with the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, among other events."

Women of the Church: A Catholic Leadership Forum | 2023 National Conference
July 19-21, 2023 | St. John's School of Theology and Seminary, Collegeville, MN
When it comes to women in the Church, the Spirit is stirring.
Join us July 19-21, 2023 in Collegeville, MN for the third Women of the Church national conference. Sponsored by Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary. The conference will do as St. Paul urged the early Roman Church: to Welcome Her and all her extraordinary gifts.
Everyday, through diverse vocations, women share their leadership skills, liturgical and ministerial talents, theological insight, and prophetic imagination. Come celebrate these gifts and, in community with others, imagine a Church even more welcoming of women.
