Mission Santa Clara Records Digitization Project is Underway
Friday, Dec. 7, 2007
The University Archives is embarking on a digital project in collaboration with Bob Senkewicz Professor of History, and co-founder of California Studies Initiative at SCU. With funds from the Technology Steering Committee, the Archives has arranged for The Huntington Library to digitize and index the original Mission Santa Clara Sacramental Records, 1777-1903. After the digital records are described and mounted as a digital collection on the Library's server, students in Professor Senkewicz' classes will use the records to construct a picture of movement of the native peoples from various locations within the Santa Clara Valley into the Mission system. From their research, information technology specialists will construct an interactive map demonstrating these patterns.
