California History Tour Procedures
For the comfort and enjoyment of all visitors to the de Saisset Museum and Mission Santa Clara de Asís, we ask that you follow some basic guidelines for your visit.
Before your visit to the Museum:
- Coordinate chaperones. The de Saisset Museum requires one adult chaperone per 10 students. Chaperones must remain with the group during the entire tour and accept responsibility for monitoring the group’s behavior.
- Provide nametags. Please provide each student, chaperone, and teacher with a visible nametag.
- Organize groups. Please organize students into equal groups of 15 or less. Each group will be assigned a docent upon arrival.
Upon arrival at the Museum:
- If possible, please leave all backpacks, water bottles, and lunches on the bus. There is a small area in the Museum’s foyer (your docent will identify) where belongings can be kept during the tour.
On the tour:
- Do not chew gum while in the Museum or the Mission.
- Do not eat or drink while in the Museum or the Mission.
- Behave responsibly while in the Museum and Mission by not running or engaging in loud or boisterous activities in the buildings.
- Do not touch artwork or artifacts in the Museum or Mission, unless instructed to do so by a docent.
- Take no flash photography.
- Be quiet and respectful in the Mission, as it is an active place of worship.
- The Museum’s restrooms are small. Please encourage students to use restrooms before leaving school.
After the tour:
- There are limited picnic facilities available on campus. Docents can point out designated picnic areas.
- All picnic areas are outdoors, and there is a covered area near the Adobe Wall for rainy days.
- Some picnic areas are adjacent to restrooms.
- Please dispose of picnic trash responsibly.
