To make way for the construction of the new Learning Commons & Library building, the University Library has moved into temporary facilities.
Interim Space FAQ
The Library has created a FAQ for students on the interim space.
Services
On Thursday, June 22, the Library re-opened in a new Interim Library building located between Buck Shaw stadium and the parking structure. This will be the main Library location for two years, while the new Learning Commons and Library building is being constructed on the site of the old Orradre Library building.
The Library is also planning additional service space on the first floor of Nobili Hall. We expect to have this space open for Fall Quarter 2006, but it will not be open for the Summer Session.
Collections
Summer Session course reserve materials and books requested from the ARS are available for pick up in the Interim Library. Remember, you can request materials from the ARS from your home, office, or any Internet connection, then pick them up at the Circulation desk when you arrive in the Library.
Staff
All Library staff will continue to be available at the same phone numbers and email addresses.
Administration
The Library’s administrative offices are now located on the second floor of the Leavey Event Center until the new library opens in 2008. Phone numbers, email addresses and business hours remain unchanged. For administrative services such as use of our Stanford libraries institutional card or to complete a student employment application, please contact the administrative office at 408-554-6830.
Demolition
Demolition of the Orradre building began at 8 am on Monday, July 24, 2006. You can track the progress of the new Learning Commons & Library online via our webcam.
Remembering the Orradre Library Building
Opened in 1964, the Orradre Library building has served the SCU campus for more than forty years! We want to commemorate this milestone and invite faculty, students, alumni, and staff to share their memories of this facility.
