Michael Calegari
Associate Professor

Dr. Calegari's teaching and research interests are mainly in financial statement analysis and taxation. His research has been published in several leading accounting and tax journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, National Tax Journal, and the Journal of the American Accounting Association. In 2004, Calegari was co-recipient of the Deloitte Teaching Innovation Award from the American Taxation Association.
Born in Oakland, Dr. Calegari attended schools in San Leandro and Hayward, received a B.S.B.A. from the University of San Francisco in 1980, an M.S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1986, and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1996.
Dr. Calegari began his professional career as a certified public accountant in 1980 with John Forbes & Co., CPAs in San Francisco. He worked as a CPA in the Bay Area for about 10 years, when he left the profession to get his Ph.D. at Arizona. Before joining Santa Clara University in 2000, Calegari was an associate professor at Georgia State University.
Calegari is married to Dr. Mary Calegari, an accounting professor at San Jose State University. They live in Santa Clara.
Michael Eames

Dr. Eames received his B.S. in Business and a M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from the University of California at Berkeley. He subsequently earned his M.B.A in Finance and Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Washington, Seattle, and obtained his C.P.A in Washington State.
His work experience includes environmental and archeological work for the National Park Service, nine years of salmon management and research activities in Washington State, consulting with PriceWaterhouse, and risk management analyses with Bank of America.
Dr. Eames' research interests are mainly in the areas of analyst forecast error and earnings management. His research has been published in leading accounting journals, including The Accounting Review, Contemporary, Accounting Research, the Journal of Accounting Research.
Dr. Eames and his wife, Leilani, have two sons and live in Mountain View. His outside interests include Nordic fiddling and dance, backpacking, fly fishing, and temperate zone pomology.
Yongtae Kim

Yongtae Kim is assistant professor of the Department of Accounting in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. He joined the faculty in 2001 after receiving his doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Born in Korea, Dr. Kim received his B.A in Business and M.A. in Business both from Sogang University in Korea. He obtained his C.P.A. and C.T.A. in Korea and worked for KPMG Korea for two and half years.
Dr. Kim's research interests are mainly in the areas of managerial opportunism and capital markets. His research has been published or accepted for publication in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, The International Journal of Finance, the Journal Of Investment Management, and the Managerial Finance. Dr. Kim also regularly presents papers at academic conferences around the world.
Dr. Kim and his wife, Misook have a son (Ian) who is attending the Kids on Campus at Santa Clara University, and live in San Jose.
Paul Locatelli, S.J.

Paul Locatelli, S.J., became president of Santa Clara University in August 1988. A member of the baccalaureate Class of 1960 at Santa Clara, he received his Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1971, and a Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley in 1974. He became a Jesuit in 1962 and was ordained a Jesuit priest in 1974.
Locatelli previously served as Rector/Professor of Accounting at Loyola Marymount and Academic Vice President and Associate Dean of Business at Santa Clara as well as a member of the Accounting faculty. Even after assuming Santa Clara's presidency, he was named the 1994 Distinguished Professor of the Year by the California Society of CPAs.
Currently, he serves on a number of Silicon Valley and national boards, including Campus Compact, Council of Presidents for the Association of Governing Boards, the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the American Leadership Forum, and the Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network. His work has earned him the 1999 John Gardner Leadership Award from the American Leadership Forum, 1999 Citizen of the Year Medal from the County of Santa Clara/Province of Florence-Sister County Commission and the 2000 Business Hall of Fame from Junior Achievement Business Hall.

Chris Paisley
Dean's Executive Professor of Accounting
Christopher B. Paisley serves as the Dean's Executive Professor of Accounting and Finance at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Previously Mr. Paisley retired from his position as Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for 3Com Corporation in May 2000. Paisley joined 3Com Corporation in September 1985 as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. During his 15 years at 3Com, the company grew from $50M a year in sales to nearly $6B a year in sales, ranking in the top 300 on the May 2000 Fortune 500 list.
Prior to joining the company, Paisley was Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Ridge Computers, a scientific workstation manufacturer, from May 1982 to September 1985. Previously, he was employed by Hewlett-Packard Company for five years in a variety of accounting and finance positions.
Paisley has a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and a member of the Board of Directors for Brocade Communication Systems, Electronics For Imaging and Volterra.
Susan Parker

Dr. Parker’s teaching and research interests are mainly in the field of auditing. Her research has been published in Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Contemporary Accounting Research and other journals. Some of the topics addressed include the determinants of audit fees and the effect of various corporate governance mechanisms (primarily audit committees) on the financial reporting practices of public companies. She received a doctorate in Accounting from the University of Oregon in 1997.
In her work with the Center for Accounting Education and Practice, Dr. Parker promotes external speakers for the students and faculty, works with the professional accounting community to strengthen ties and generate career opportunities for graduates and administers the intensive summer Certificate in Accounting Proficiency Program.
James Sepe

James F. Sepe is Associate Professor in the Accounting Department, Leavey School of Business and Administration, Santa Clara University. He joined the faculty in 1979 after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Additional degrees include an M.B.A. from UC Berkeley (1971) and a B.S.C. from Santa Clara (1969). He is a CPA and his practice experience includes two years on the audit staff of a large, international public accounting firm.
Dr. Sepe's teaching interests are mainly in the financial accounting area, teaching courses in introductory and intermediate financial accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research interests concern financial reporting issues and the use of financial information by capital markets. He has published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Financial Management, Journal of Accounting Education, and Journal of Forensic Accounting. He is a co-author Intermediate Accounting, a textbook published by McGraw-Hill/Irwin that is now in its fourth edition.
Dr. Sepe's professional service includes significant involvement with the Western Region of the American Accounting Association. He has served as program chair and proceedings editor, vice-president, and president for the Western AAA.

Steve Wade
Dean's Executive Professor of Accounting
Before joining Santa Clara University in 1994, Professor Wade was Chief Financial Officer of Micronics Computers (a computer systems supplier) and Finnigan Corporation (a manufacturer of scientific instruments), and served as Treasurer and Corporate Controller of Verbatim Corporation (which developed and manufactured data storage systems). In 1991, Wade was the CFO for Micronics during their initial public offering. Professor Wade is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Accountant in Canada. His undergraduate degree is in Economics from SUNY Albany and he has an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. He serves as advisor to various technology companies and is a member of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of San Jose. Professor Wade is the recipient of the 2003 National Catholic Charities Volunteer of the Year, two Business School Extraordinary Awards, and the 2003 Brutacoa award for teaching innovation. When he is not teaching or engaging in his charitable activities, Wade enjoys traveling and relaxing on his farm in upstate New York.
