Requesting an item from the ARS

You can place ARS requests via OSCAR and items will be delivered to the Library Circulation Desk. Library staff retrieves the items during scheduled hours.

While searching in OSCAR, you will see a red Request from ARS button for the items that can be requested. Click on the button to request the item. Typing your full name (last name, first name) makes it easier for staff to help you when you pick up the items.

If you receive an error message, please see staff at the Circulation or Information Commons desks.

Items requested from the ARS are kept at the Circulation Desk for 24 hours after they are retrieved.

A small percentage of the items in the ARS cannot be requested via OSCAR. These include items from Archives & Special Collections and some Government Documents.

Circulation Statuses for ARS Items

  • ARS DELIVERED - item has been requested and is ready for pickup
  • AVAILABLE - Item can be requested
  • IN TRANSIT - Item is either being transported to the Circulation Desk or returned to the ARS
