Fine Policies for Students

Regular Materials (Books, Maps, etc.)

Fines accrue from the due date at this rate:

  • $ .50 per day for the first 4 days
  • $1.00 per day thereafter
  • Maximum fine is $15.00 per book

Videos & DVDs

Fines accrue from the due date at this rate:

  • $5.00 per day
  • Maximum fine is $20.00

Recalled Materials

Fines accrue from the due date listed on the recall notice at these rates:

  • $1.50 per day for the first 4 days
  • $2.00 per day thereafter
  • Maximum fine is $32.00 per recalled book

2-hour & 4-hour Reserve Materials

Fines accrue from the due date/time at these rates:

  • $5.00 for the first hour overdue
  • $1.00 per hour thereafter
  • Maximum fine is $25.00

1-day, 3-day, 7-day Reserve Materials

Fines accrue from the due date at this rate:

  • $5.00 per day
  • Maximum fine is $20.00

Fine Payment

  1. Fines are due and payable upon return of overdue materials.

  2. Fines may be paid at the Circulation Desk up to 10 days after Statement of Charges is issued. After 10 days, charges of $100.00 or more will be billed to Student Accounts with additional, non-refundable billing charges and must be paid through them.

  3. A hold may be placed on your Student Account which will block you from registration or receiving your transcript if you fail to return materials or pay replacement costs and fines.
