What are Course Reserves?

Electronic Reserves

Also known as e-reserves, electronic reserves are scanned copies or electronic documents that have been made available for students registered in a course. Book chapters, journal articles are available on either Camino or ERes.

Hard Copy Reserves

Hard Copy Reserves or Print Reserves are books and other items that are held at the Circulation Desk of the library and can be found by searching OSCAR. These materials have a checkout period which is shorter than those of regular items in order to ensure equal access to material for all students in a course.

Checkout Policies for Course Reserves

  • Checkouts are 2-hour, 4-hour, 1-day, 3-day or 1-week.
  • Late fines accrue as soon as the item is late.
  • Users may only borrow 3 reserves items at a time.
  • DVDs and VHS tapes are on 4-hour loan and are in-house use only.
  • Users must wait 30 minutes after returning a reserves item to borrow it again, unless an identical copy is available.
