Planning Your Travel
We encourage you to make your travel plans as soon as possible. Students should plan to attend the entire two-day session of Summer Orientation, arriving by 8 a.m. on day one and departing no earlier than 4 p.m. on day two. Early departure may interfere with your ability to register for fall quarter classes.
We advise you to not make travel arrangements that require a departure before 6 p.m. from any of the Bay Area airports on day 2 of Orientation.
We understand the challenge in making travel plans for Summer Orientation. Students with special circumstances may request to arrive one day early or stay one day later for their Summer Orientation session. If you need extended housing, please contact us by June 14th at email@example.com and include your name, student ID number, cell phone number, and flight information. We will contact you after you submit your request to let you know if it has been approved. Any requests received after June 14th will not be considered for early arrival or late stay.
Bay Area Airports
Santa Clara University is located in the Silicon Valley, just minutes from the San Jose Airport and approximately 45 minutes from the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland Airport. Most airlines fly directly to San Jose International Airport.
If you do not wish to rent a car, you can take a taxicab to campus ($15- $20) or use the Santa Clara Valley Transit Route 10 shuttle (free). Route 10 will take you from the San Jose Airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain Station which is located across the street from the main entrance of campus. Shuttles operate every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends. For more information, visit the Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority.
Super Shuttle provides shuttle service from San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport. More information can be found at the Super Shuttle website.
Public transportation between San Francisco International Airport and the Santa Clara Caltrain Station is also available by taking BART from SFO and transferring to the Caltrain rail system at the Millbrae Station. For more information, visit www.bart.gov or www.caltrain.com.
