Dear Colleagues —
This fall, the Career Center — in partnership with colleagues in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Alumni Office — is hosting the second-annual Alumni-Student Mentorship Program for students in the arts, humanities and social sciences. We are proud to expand this program in strategic alignment with the goals of Impact 2030.

We need your help to recruit alumni mentors! Forward this email to any interested alumni in your network or recommend alumni for us to reach out to. Alumni can sign up on Bronco Exchange through Sunday, September 14.
- Alumni should have at least 2 years of professional experience;
- Alumni should be based in the Bay Area or able to travel to the Bay Area;
- Alumni can be graduates of any SCU program as long they have the interest and experience to mentor arts, humanities and social sciences students;
- Yes! Faculty and staff can apply to be mentors!
Please direct any questions or alumni mentor recommendations to Shauna Strauss, Assistant Director of Career Development, at sstrauss@scu.edu.
As always, I look forward to working together to deliver on the promise of higher education for all of our students: a good job, social capital, and economic mobility in pursuit of a more humane, just and sustainable world.

Welcoming Zarina Yamat
The Career Center is pleased to announce that Zarina Yamat has joined our team as the Assistant Director of Employer Relations - STEM. Her first day is Tuesday, September 2.

In this role, she will work closely and primarily with employers seeking to engage with and recruit students from the School of Engineering and the math and natural sciences programs in the College of Arts and Sciences. She will report to Melissa Thiriez, Director of Employer Relations and Partnerships.
As a Santa Clara alumna (BS Sociology '97), Zarina is excited to be back on campus after more than 20 years in HR and talent acquisition. Her work primarily focused on STEM roles within the medical device, biotech, and automotive industries. She is enthusiastic about helping students explore their career goals and is eager to leverage her background to develop strong relationships and expand opportunities between Santa Clara and employers. She is thrilled to be part of the career center team and looks forward to supporting fellow Broncos in their pursuit for STEM opportunities.
As we welcome Zarina, I want to take this opportunity to thank Melissa Thiriez, for leading the search process. I also want to thank those that participated in the search process – Prashanth Asuri, Jose Diaz, Drazen Fabris, Brian McNelis and the Career Center staff. For all of the time and energy invested in this process, I am very grateful.
Please feel free to send Zarina a note of welcome and congratulations at zyamat@scu.edu.

Faculty Survey: What is Your Perspective on Integrating Career Content in Your Classes?

TAKE THE SURVEY: CAREER IN THE CLASSROOM
Three years ago, the Career Center transitioned from Student Life to Academic Affairs and now reports to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. As part of this shift, we seek to learn more about the different ways career-related content may or may not be integrated into academic coursework across campus.
Your input will help us better understand faculty perspectives and practices, so we can be thoughtful partners in supporting departmental priorities and students’ future success.
Questions? Email Vania Tong, Associate Director of Career Development & Campus Integration, at vtong@scu.edu.
