Dear ESS Friends,

I wanted to thank you all for your contributions during SCU's Day of Giving. Your generous donations will allow us to support our students doing summer internships through the REAL Fellowship program. Several of our last year REAL fellows describe their internship experiences from last summer below. Congratulations to two ESS students, Sammie Bennett and James Wang, for winning Fulbright awards. They are continuing our streak of ESS majors receiving prestigious national fellowships. Finally, congratulations to another fabulous capstone event, where students highlighted their research projects under the mentorship of professors Chris Bacon and Iris Stewart-Frey.

I can't believe we're already in Spring quarter! Our students and faculty know that the quarter is begun and done in a blink of an eye. We'll update you with more highlights at the end of this academic year.

With warm regards,

Leslie Gray, Professor and Department Chair
