Sam Campos
Sam Campos graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Pre-Law and a minor in Spanish Studies. She is a proud Bay Area native, born and raised in San José, CA. She was a member of the Clean Slate Research Team for over a year and was involved in various other on-campus organizations, such as co-president of Hermanas Unidas and a Community Facilitator within the Office of Residence Life. Sam’s research interests focus on policy implementation and the consequences of incarceration on families. Following a gap year, she intends to pursue law school to advance legal representation for underserved communities.
Chisomaga Nlemigbo
Chisomaga Nlemigbo is a fourth-year student at Santa Clara University studying Public Health and Political Science who was born and raised in the Bay Area. Before joining the Clean Slate Research Team, he worked on projects related to juvenile justice, ethical corporate political activity, and unhoused populations. Chisomaga’s research interests include the effect of incarceration on youth, social dynamics within prison, and immigrant experiences within the United States. He is excited to work on this team and examine the anticipated versus actual effects of criminal expungement policies. After graduating from Santa Clara, he intends to pursue law school.

Maile Belnap
Maile graduated from Santa Clara University in 2024 with a Bachelor's in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. She is currently a J.D. Candidate at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California.
Rachel Stattion
Rachel graduated from Santa Clara University in 2024 as a double major in Political Science and Women's and Gender Studies with a minor in Asian Studies. She is currently a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles pursuing a Master's in East Asian Studies.
Eva Gonzalez
Eva Gonzalez holds a Master’s degree in Justice Studies, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She is the Lead Case Manager II for the Neighborhood Service Unit (NSU) at Fresh Lifelines for Youth, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to supporting system-impacted youth. Beyond her professional role, Eva is preparing for the LSAT and intends to apply to law school in Fall 2025.
Desarey G. Castellanos Ordonez
Desarey Castellanos Ordonez grew up in Pacoima, a small neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. She is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Justice Studies from San Jose State University. She is currently a law student at California Western School of Law.
Deirdre Crawford
Deirdre graduated from Santa Clara University in 2019 with a double major in Political Science and History. She currently works in the nonprofit grant law space at NGOsource, an organization dedicated to helping assist with the compliance and due diligence processes for U.S. grantmakers giving to international organizations.
Carolina Caliman
Carolina is a Ph.D. Student in the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark, NJ. Born and raised in Brazil, she has an LL.B Bachelor of Law degree from the Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Before joining the Ph.D. program, Carolina worked in the Brazilian Criminal Justice System.
