Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
I am pleased to announce the renewal of the College of Arts and Sciences’ Arts for Social Justice (ASJ) program and to formally invite proposals for projects that explore the intersection of artistic expression and social justice.
The ASJ program is a collaborative, interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to raising awareness of critical issues affecting the human condition. Our mission is to equip the Santa Clara University community with the resources to serve as catalysts for change. By supporting projects—primarily on-campus—that use art to foster dialogue and action, we seek to bridge the gap between our university and the surrounding community as we explore vital subjects such as social inequality, homelessness, and economic disparity.
Eligibility and Participation
We encourage CAS students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, as well as CAS organizations, departments, and units, to apply. We particularly welcome ideas that reach across multiple curricula or explore topics outside of your primary major or department. While the team lead must be a member of the College of Arts and Sciences, we welcome collaborators from across the university to join these teams.
Call for Proposal and Application
For detailed information regarding project requirements, evaluation criteria, and the submission process, please review the official documents below:
Application Deadline: May 10, 2026
Questions? Email ASJ@scu.edu. Funding decisions will be made by the newly established Arts for Social Justice Advisory Council that is composed of faculty, staff, and students.
We invite you to be innovative and to think outside the box. Whether your project involves visual arts, performance, digital media, the written word, or a new experimental form, we are eager to see your creative approach to driving social change.
We look forward to seeing how your creativity will inspire our community and spark meaningful action.
Sincerely,

Daniel Press
