Student Resource SpotlightThe Maker Lab

The Maker Lab is a hands-on, interdisciplinary prototyping space for creative exploration and fabrication open to all SCU students, staff, and faculty. The lab supports work on course projects/labs, research and capstone projects, extracurricular activities, personal projects, and more. The lab has a broad array of typical hand and power tools as well as a variety of "maker-style" machines such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and small-scale CNC machines. To use the Maker Lab, you must complete training first. There is an online portion via our Maker Lab Camino Course. You can enroll in the course via this link. Once you complete the online portion, you can schedule the in-person training. You have to complete at least Basic Training to use the Maker Lab. Additional training may be required based on the equipment you wish to use. Once training is complete, you are welcome to use the lab during any of our supervised Open Hours!

We also have a Digital Badge program where you can go through self-paced online and in-person activities to learn more about maker skills and earn a digital badge that can be shared via LinkedIn and other social media. If interested in more information, visit the Digital Badges page on the Maker Lab Camino course. To learn more about the Maker Lab, visit: https://www.scu.edu/engineering/makerlab/
