Digital Inequalities: A talk by Laura Robinson, associate professor, Sociology, Santa Clara University
April 13, 2017 | 12-1 pm
Bannan 135 (the Law School building)
Santa Clara University
Professor Robinson’s research on digital inequalities explores how socioeconomically disadvantaged youths interact with information technology in their everyday lives. This population is especially likely to undergo involuntary exile from digital resources -- whether because of lack of physical access to devices, lack of adequate connectivity, or lack of adequate digital skills. Robinson’s talk will probe the ethical implications of the interplay between digital inequalities, socioeconomic disparities, and the human-capital-building activities increasingly mediated by digital resources.
This event is part of the Social Justice and Technology Speaker Series hosted by the Santa Clara University School of Law's Center for Social Justice and Public Service; it is co-sponsored by the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and the High Tech Law Institute.
