Recognizing United Nations Day

This Sunday is United Nations Day. UN Day commemorates the ratification of the United Nations Charter each year on October 24. The United Nations (U.N.) was created in 1945 after the Second World War to maintain international peace and security and prevent devastating wars in the future. In keeping with this mission, the U.N. works to prevent conflict around the globe; it deploys peacekeepers to help parties in conflict make peace; and works to create the conditions that promote peace.
The United Nations is important to higher education abd many universities across the globe have courses, programs and initiatives that draw on the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At SCU, the UN SDGs are embedded in many programs including:
