JST Renewal students Pedro Garcia-Rivera, Liam Power, and Louisa Wirmum (pictured below) are concluding their sabbatical this coming week. We share a photo of them from their closing retreat at Villa Maria Del Mar Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, along with a poem by Pedro.
Wisdom, Grace, Comfort Zone
Sabbatical, a time for renewal.
Time set aside for growing:
intense, self-paced, rewarding.
What would I take? What would I leave?
To witness the young and the seasoned
as one on the journey,
restores the hope of the hopeless.
What would I take? What would I leave?
Challenged to wrestle the impossible,
attempting to see what is human,
while touching the edge of divine.
What would I take? What would I leave?
Take that which has opened my eyes
forcing a deeper desire
to grow in Wisdom and Grace,
seeking a better place, but nothing less.
Leave the fear of being lost,
which limits my understanding;
“traditional” lines of division,
and my Comfort Zone!

The Renewal Program invites you to join us for a potluck and movie, A Celtic Pilgrimage with John O'Donohue. "In the Irish psyche, landscape has a unique presence. One of the wonderful insights of the Celtic imagination is that landscape is alive." With A Celtic Pilgrimage, you have the opportunity to walk with Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue through the breathtaking landscape of western Ireland. Weaving ancient wisdom with personal history and stunning imagery, this documentary reveals the Ireland that gave rise to the spiritual wisdom of the Celts—and inspired John O'Donohue throughout his remarkable life.
