2022 Commencement Information

Commencement Exercises

Saturday, May 21, 2022, 3 p.m. PDT 

All Souls Episcopal Church, 2220 Cedar Street, Berkeley

The Jesuit School of Theology will honor our 2022 graduates with a ceremony of prayer, reflection, and conferral of diplomas. The ceremony will be followed by a light reception with sweets and beverages in the church hall.

JST will confer an honorary doctorate upon Arthur G. Holder, Professor and former Dean of the Graduate Theological Union.

The following two liturgies are also part of the JST Commencement celebrations:

Commencement Mass

Friday, May 20, 2022, 5:15 p.m. PDT

Gesù Chapel, Jesuit School of Theology
1735 LeRoy Avenue, Berkeley

JST will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving for all of our May 2022 graduates. Dean Joseph Mueller, SJ will preside and preach. The Mass will be followed by a reception with appetizers and beverages at JST.

Lay Sending

Saturday, May 21, 2022, 10 a.m. PDT

Gesù Chapel, Jesuit School of Theology
1735 LeRoy Avenue, Berkeley

JST will send forth five lay graduates into ministry and service in a Liturgy of the Word with a Rite of Sending. Professor Mary McGann, RSCJ and Paul Kircher, Assistant Dean of Student Life, will co-preside.

For all gatherings, please follow the “Prepared SCU” guidelines for events. The university recommends masking for all indoor events, except when eating or drinking. Any guests who are unvaccinated are required to mask.
