Dear Undergraduates:
I hope the start of the spring quarter is going well for you. I am writing with important information about Summer Sessions registration, tuition, grant, calendar and course load limits policy. Summer is a great time to fulfill Core, major and minor requirements. On-campus and online classes are offered, and the courses are viewable in Workday.
Summer Registration
Registration begins this Monday, April 15. You can view your assigned registration appointment by using Workday Academics. Seniors who petitioned to graduate in June did not receive a registration appointment. If your graduation plans have changed, please notify the Office of the Registrar at registrar@scu.edu (include your name and student ID number).
Tuition
Summer tuition is $1,220 per unit. This is a reduced tuition rate -- 25% off the regular per unit tuition price.
Summer Sessions Grant
Santa Clara will be offering 171 $1,200 grants towards four and five-unit SCU undergraduate summer classes. The grant is for current Santa Clara undergraduate, degree-seeking students who are in good standing and have demonstrated financial need through their 2023-2024 FAFSA. The grant cannot be used for faculty and/or staff-led travel courses/programs (including SCU Administered Global Explorations Programs) or Study Abroad/Summer Abroad. Incoming first-year students, incoming transfer students, visiting students, and Young Scholars are not eligible. If you do not know if you have a FAFSA on file, please contact One Stop at 408-551-1000 or onestop@scu.edu.
The grant application will open on Monday, April 22, and you will be notified when it is available. For more information, visit the Summer Sessions Grant website.
Summer Sessions Calendar
Please review the Summer Sessions 2024 calendar for important information, including session dates and tuition refund deadlines. Be especially mindful of the deadlines to drop classes to receive 100% tuition refund (less fees). It is critical that all class drop activity is completed prior to the posted deadlines, which are in Pacific Daylight Time. Additionally, Juneteenth (Wednesday, June 19) and Independence Day (Thursday, July 4) are administrative holidays but not academic holidays; offices will be closed, but classes still meet. Please note: all session numbers have changed due to the transition to Workday; the calendar lists the new sessions.
Course Load Limits Policy
The intensive pace of Sessions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 require the following restrictions on summer course loads:
- Session 2 (formerly known as Session 1): Students may not enroll in more than 10 units during this session.
- Session 3 (formerly known as Session 2): Students may not enroll in more than 10 units during this session.
- Sessions 4, 5 and 6 (formerly known as Sessions 3A, 3B and 3C): Students may not enroll in or attend more than one Session 4, 5, or 6 lab science (chemistry or physics) course at a time. If enrolled in or attending a Session 4, 5, or 6 lab science course, students may not be simultaneously enrolled in or attending a Session 1, 2, or 3 course.
Should you have additional questions or need more information, please contact the Office of Summer Sessions at scusummer@scu.edu.
Sincerely,
Allyson Morris
Director, Summer Sessions
