Business Enrollment and Course Restrictions
The Leavey School of Business will be restricting enrollment for at least the 2008-09 academic year. This change is due to the increase in enrollment over the past several years as well as the desire for the business school to maintain its commitment of academic excellence.

Students enrolled in Santa Clara University in Spring 2008 who were in A&S and Engineering were given the opportunity to 1) switch to the School of Business, 2) declare a second major in business, or 3) declare the general business minor during your tenure at SCU, as long as they completed the appropriate paperwork in the Undergraduate Business Programs Office, Kenna 110 by Tuesday, April 15th.

After April 15th, the Leavey School of Business will implement a specific application process for enrollment into the school.  Click here for a list of common questions we have received regarding this new policy.

Additionally, effective Fall 2008 the Leavey School of Business will begin restricting enrollment in business core courses to students who need the courses to meet program requirements. The business core courses will be available only to current business majors, minors, double majors and some additional special programs which require business core courses.  (A listing of these core classes is noted below.)

Students who are not enrolled in a business major, minor or secondary major may seek department permission to enroll in sections that have open spaces by attending the first class session.  As always, students must meet applicable course requirements and pre-requisites for courses.

This change was made to support the enrollment management initiatives within the business school and will be reviewed quarterly for adjustments and refinements.

The following courses will be restricted to business majors, 2nd majors and special programs.  (Special programs are defined as programs requiring one or more of these business core courses to complete a requirement).

Unit Overload
Quarterly course load may not exceed 19 units unless your cumulative grade point average at Santa Clara is at least 3.3 or you are officially enrolled in the University Honors Program or you obtain written permission from the Drahmann Center. Students who do not meet the above criteria will not be registered for the additional courses. One 2-unit course or two 1-unit courses are not counted as overload units. Students, including Honors Students and those with a 3.3 grade point average, may add overload units only during the add/drop period.

Peer Advising
Peer Advisors are now available in Kenna 200 on a scheduled, drop-in basis. Come by and ask your questions about course requirements and academic regulations.

Congratulations to Trevor Brown!  Trevor had $50.00 deposited to his flex account as the winner of the Advisor Feedback drawing for students who visited drop-in Peer Advising in Kenna 200 in Spring 2008.
