Santa Clara's History Department offers students a wide array of courses that cover Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and which discuss such diverse topics as politics, cultural and intellectual history, diplomacy and war, economic life, technology and science, society, women, the family and human sexuality, religion, and the experiences of ethnic groups and minorities. History majors benefit from a flexible program that offers both diversity and depth. In earning the Bachelor of Arts degree, each student takes at least four courses in the lower division (freshman and sophomore level), and ten courses in the upper division (junior/senior level). The program combines a breadth of historical knowledge with a geographical specialization. Interested students can pursue minor fields in modern languages, English, communication, political science, economics, or science, including pre-medical studies. A minor in business from the Leavey School of Business and Administration combined with a history major provides superb preparation for graduate MBA programs. History as a second major is also possible. |
