HR Notices & Reports"On A Mission To Wellness" AnnouncementFriday, Jul. 1, 2011Dear Staff and Faculty,
The Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce the launch of a campus wide health and wellness initiative: On A Mission To Wellness. In furtherance of SCU's core values of competence, conscience and compassion - and to further the University's efforts to care for the whole person; we are excited to offer this new initiative which includes programs, articles, workshops, and opportunities to improve the overall health and wellness of our staff and faculty. Information can be found on the Department of Human Resources's website at http://www.scu.edu/hr/benefits/wellness/.
All staff and faculty are invited and encouraged to take advantage of the variety of programs and resources that will be presented in conjunction with our health plan providers, employee assistance program, and other local and regional health and nutrition professionals. Participation is completely voluntary, and for the most part, free of charge.
SCU as a community is well aware of the nationwide epidemic of health issues that are also affecting our employees, their families and friends. Stress, lack of physical activity, and poor eating habits are all possible to turn around to a healthier lifestyle. This initiative is for anyone who wants to be healthier - we will focus on all aspects of health and wellness - body, mind, and spirit. We will present workshops and programs to help you focus on what will work best for you and your healthy lifestyle.
Debby Morrison, Health and Wellness Program Administrator will be administering and overseeing the program and offerings. She welcomes your comments, ideas and input regarding sessions or topics that you would like to have presented at SCU. In addition to Debby, we will be designating "Wellness Ambassadors" to help with the planning and communication of our health and wellness initiative. To learn more about becoming a Wellness Ambassador, please visit http://www.scu.edu/hr/benefits/wellness/ambassadors.cfm for more detailed information and an application. You may contact Debby at x2758 or email her at dmorrison@scu.edu.
A kickoff to introduce the Mission To Wellness program will be held in the fall. A date to follow.
Together, we can all work on a mission to wellness and make Santa Clara University a healthier workplace!
